Apostasy

From Christianity Knowledge Base

(Redirected from Apostate)

Apostasy is what one commits when they denounce, reject, or fall away from Christianity. A person who commits apostasy is called an apostate.

The Restorationist churches teach that the majority of Christianity fell into a Great Apostasy early in church history. Conversely, many mainline Christians believe that the restorationists are themselves apostates or heretics.
