• 428 - Nestorius is consecrated bishop of Constantinople. Almost immediately, Nestorius began attacking the term "Theotokos" (God-bearer) to describe the Virgin Mary, suggesting Christotokos (Christ-bearer) instead. (See Nestorianism).
