The current version of the Book of Common Prayer for the Episcopal Church in the United States of America, the 1979 Prayer Book radically overhauled the worship of the Episcopal Church in two primary ways. Firstly, it provided liturgies in contemporar language, which were more flexible and guided by the Liturgical Movement, the influence of the Second Vatican Council, and the example of the liturgy of the Church of South India. Secondly, it incorporated a more fully baptismal ecclesiology into the worship of the Church, centered on the revision of the Baptismal Covenant.
