[edit] Ben McLean; vote closes 9-4-2006

Final vote: 1-0-0

  • I volunteer to be an admin on this wikia. RLDSWiki would remain my primary concern, but I would also remain active here, stop vandalism and be nice to n00bcomers. --BenMcLean 15:38, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
Support. I second. Although Ben's theology is different than mine, he has proven to be fair-minded, as evidenced by his discussions with Homestarmy. But, shouldn't we have something similar to Wikipedia's RfA process in place first? Archola 23:41, 28 August 2006 (UTC) 23:39, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
oh, you mean Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Requests for adminship?? --BenMcLean 15:27, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Exactly...although we may not need it yet (I think we had sixteen users active in August), we may need it in the future. For now, I think Sassne will take care of the proper promotions. How about a week for the voting?Archola 01:26, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Final vote: 0-0-2

  • I volunteer also. I can help create an RFA process if anyone needs help with it? -AMK152 20:58, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Neutral. Since you're new here, I'd like to know a little more about you before I make my decision. Archola 01:48, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Neutral. Like what Archola said and also you only made 6 edits! But if you are good at a specific field (e.g. front page design, maintaining policies etc.) then I support. -- inkybutton

  • I volunteer to be the sysop or the bureaucrat. I had been a sysop and a bureaucrat of [1], and I can design the main page;) (I have designed the main page of ChristWiki, collaborating with Hayson, but he's not here anymore. --inkybutton 2 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Second. Again, his theology is different than mine (Inky is a JW), but he seems fair-minded and has worked well at ChristWiki. He also worked well here before ChristWiki schismed was forked from this site. Archola 01:26, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

  • I wouldn't mind being an admin. I can't be around a lot though because of my studies, but I do come by and check how it's going and can minor changes here and there. I am an admin and server admin at the following sites: Wikible, Theopedia, MormonWiki (.org, the good one), and CreationWiki. --Tom 23:45, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
General comments -

If you're requesting adminship, why does your userpage say "as of this post, I do not support this wiki as I once did. I will be checking in now and then, but I will be focusing my attention elsewhere, and discouraging people to use this resource". I have nothing against you or anything but I don't understand that. --BenMcLean 13:42, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

  1. Support Since he's already an admin elsewhere, I don't think I need to even bother looking at his qualifications. -- Justin M. / Talk 02:06, 21 October 2006 (UTC) 02:15, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

  • I noticed that this Wiki is very low on moderators, and I'd like to volunteer for adminship if everyone wants me to. I'm a very sincere, trustworthy Christian (Non-Denominational Protestant), and if you need proof of it,
just see my Wikipedia userpage. I should mention that I'm not technically a sysop there (I've only been on Wikipedia for about two months), but I know about all the chores sysops handle, and I have over 1,000 edits there. I would really like to volunteer my time and help out here as best I can; I think the Wiki-World needs a good Christian community. I will still help out even if I don't become an admin here, but I think having the extra tools would allow me to contribute even more. I know I don't really have much edits here yet, but I'm getting to that. -- Justin M. / Talk 02:15, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve the Christian Wiki (CKB) in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please be sure to read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list (the latter is from Wikipedia).
A: Absolutely whatever is needed. Since there's not a lot of vandalism (yet), I probably won't have to block a lot of users or delete a lot of pages (thankfully). However, the sysop ability to edit protected pages would really help me be able to go through the site and make sure all of our non-ecyclopedia content is as nice and orderly as can be.
2. Of your articles or contributions to CKB (or any Wiki), are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A: Yes. The Taliesin Orchestra, the Colorado State Patrol, and Orinoco Flow -- The Music of Enya (all at Wikipedia) are all articles that I'm really pleased with. I plan to make a lot more articles in the future (both for Wikipedia and for here), but most of what I do is maintenance stuff (including helping new users with any problems they have). Since this site is really new, I think there is a lot maintenance work that needs to be done.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: I've had many conflicts in past (at Wikipedia), but I always have and always will handle them cooly and calmly. My userpage at Wikipedia has been vandalised several times (in some pretty bad ways).
