Filioque clause

The filioque clause consists of the words "and the Son" in the Nicene Creed: that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. This clause was accepted more by Western Christianity than Eastern Christianity, and dispute over the clause is one of the factors that led the the Great Schism.
