Methuselah

Methuselah is Noah's grandfather, who lived to be 969 years-the longest of any living human being. Methusaleh was the son of Enoch (who walked with God) and became the father of Lamech at the age of 187. Methuselah died in the year of the Great Flood.

Methuselah's name can be translated as "when he dies, it shall be sent." Some Christians consider Methuselah's name to be a prophecy of the great flood. According to the Book of Enoch (accepted as scripture by the Oriental Orthodoxy), Enoch had a vision of the Great Flood, which he related to his son Methusaleh. Oriental Orthodox tradition states that Methusaleh gave the Book of Enoch to Noah as the latter was building his ark, thus ensuring the books' survival.
