Michael

From Christianity Knowledge Base

Michael is an archangel appearing in the Book of Daniel (10:13, 21;12:1) as the warrior angel of Israel. In the New Testament, Michael appears in the Book of Revelation (chapter 12) as the one who defends Heaven from the dragon, usually identified as Satan. Michael is also mentioned in Jude 9 as the angel who fought with Satan for the body of Moses.

The "captain of the host of the Lord" in the Book of Joshua (5: 13-15) is sometimes identified with Michael, although his name is not given.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Michael was the first being that God created, and that Jesus was Michael incarnated in human form.
