Nahor

Nahor is the name of two patriarchs mentioned in the Book of Genesis.

Nahor the Elder (c. 20th–19th century BC) was Terah's father and Abraham's grandfather (Genesis 11:22-25). He begat Terah at the age of 29 and lived to be 119.

Nahor the Younger was the son of Terah and the brother of Abraham and Haran. Nahor married his neice Milcah, the daughter of his brother Haran. (Genesis 11). When God called Abraham to go to Canaan, Nahor stayed behind in the land of Haran (Genesis 12). Nahor the Younger and Milcah had eight children: Uz, Buz, Kemuel, Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel the Syrian. Kemuel begat Aram. Bethuel was the father of Rebekah and Laban the Syrian. Rebekah married Isaac, her first cousin once removed (Genesis 22, 24, 25).

Nahor the Younger and his concubine Reumah had four children: Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah. (Genesis 22). Nahor the Younger and his descendants apparently founded the city of Nahor (Genesis 24:10).

Nahor the younger was also the great-grand-grandfather of Rachel and Leah, Rebekah's nieces, Laban's daughters, and Jacob's first cousins and wives (Genesis 27-31).
