Passover, or Pesach is a festival celebrating when God "passed over" the houses of the Israelites during the final plague of the Ten Plagues of Egypt, the killing of the first-born. It is typically celebrated on the 15th of Nisan (During the full moon in March or April), according to the Hebrew calendar.

The synoptic Gospels seem to present Last Supper as a Passover Seder. However, the Gospel of John suggests that the Passover was celebrated after Jesus was crucified. In order to harmonize the testimonies between John and the synoptics, it has been suggested that there was in the first century a variation in when the Passover was celebrated. This view proposes that Jesus (and others) celebrated the Passover on the night of the 14th of Nisan, while others celebrated on the 15th.
